Challenger Learning Center Here Gets $50,000 Grand From Boeing

The Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis has received a $50,000 grant from The Boeing Company to provide funding for Kindergarten through-eighth grade teachers at underserved schools to participate in programs at the Center. Over 80 educators have been selected to receive funding for a one-day training workshop, curriculum materials and a student program.

The Dining Divas get together for dinner out somewhere, preferably a new restaurant or at least a new restaurant to us. Each month we debate about where to go next, and each month, we all get to be picky and enjoy being waited on. Not this month.

East, Central Host Football Openers Sept. 1; Stars Visit Pattonville Aug. 31

Two of the Hazelwood School District’s three high schools, East and Central, open the 2007 Football season on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1, with 1 p.m. games while defending Suburban North Conference Champion McCluer North begins Friday night, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m.

Prep Football Opens Aug. 30; Hazelwood West, McCluer Kicks Off 2007 at 4 p.m.

Hazelwood West High School opens the 2007 Prep Football Season Aug. 30 at home as the Wildcats host Suburban North Conference play at 4 p.m. against the McCluer Comets.

Relay For Life ’07

North County Relay For Life was off to a rousing start Aug. 3 before an expected storm dampened and cancelled the remaining hours of the relay shortly after 9 p.m.
The crowd was smaller than past years, perhap because of the extreme heat that evening that eventually prompted to down-pour.

Vote Change Will Allow St. Stanislaus Museum to Relocate to Charbonier Road

As allowed by city charter, a Florissant councilman Monday night asked to change his vote from the previous meeting that would in effect permit a zoning code change to allow for a museum in a non-urban area.
