Twillman Teacher is Named Missouri Teacher Of the Year finalist

For the second consecutive year, a Hazelwood School District educator has been selected as a Missouri Teacher of the Year finalist. This time, it is Nicole Ratner, a former fifth-grade teacher and current instructional specialist at Twillman Elementary.

Mayor Carr Clains Aug. 23rd as Lottie P. Noonan Day in Hazelwood

LOTTIE NOONAN celebrated her 101st birthday at the Villa at Riverwood on Aug. 23, a day it was 101 degrees outside! Hazelwood Mayor T.R. Carr presented Lottie with a proclamation from the City of Hazelwood recognizing her on this occasion. Lottie has resided at the Villa for 12 years.

Old Knobbe House in Brookes Park Being Restored For Public Use

The City of Hazelwood is in the process of offering the public a unique way to have a social or business gathering in a personal atmosphere. Plans are in progress to restore the interior and parts of the exterior of the historic Knobbe House in Brookes Park.

Hawks, Wildcats Win Prep Openers

Two Florissant Valley High School Football teams opened the 2007 season with victories while the other schools found themselves on the losing end of games.

Hazelwood Central welcomed a new head coach in Richard Nixon who succeeded John Pukala, now the Hazelwood Central Athletic Director.

FLORISSANT UNCOVERING TIME CAPSULE

A time capsule buried 50 years will be unearthed in Florissant. The city has hired Geotechnology, Inc. to assist in finding the location by conducting a ground penetrating radar survey. The capsule was buried during the 1957 Centennial celebration when the then new city hall was built at 619 rue St. Francois under Mayor Jules O’Neil.
