Donations needed for animal flood victims of Lincoln County

PALS-Pets A-lone Sanctuary of Lincoln County is in need of items to help care for misplaced and abandoned animals due to flooding. Donations will be accepted through July 2 at The Changing Image Salon, #9 St. Anthony Lane, in Florissant. Items needed:
canned dog/cat food
Paper towels
Pet friendly cleansers
Old sheets, bedding or towels
Laundry detergent

Florissant Parks to host family fishing tourney July 12

The Florissant Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Florissant Youth Advisory Commission, is sponsoring its annual Family Fishing Tournament at St. Ferdinand Park Lake, Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m.-noon.

4th of July Fireworks: Florissant, Hazelwood, Ferguson, Alton

July 3 & 4 Fireworks schedule:

HAZELWOOD will hold a fireworks display on Friday, July 4, in White Birch Park, beginning at dusk. In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 5. Off site parking with shuttle bus service will be provided at Howdershell Park, Armstrong Elementary School and the New Covenant Church on Howdershell. The shuttle service will begin at 7 p.m.

FLORISSANT’S festivities begin with an outdoor concert performance by Northwinds Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4 on the James J. Eagan Center grounds. Fireworks will follow the concert at dusk.

ALTON will host its fireworks display at Riverfront Park on Thursday, July 3 at 9 p.m.

FERGUSON will host its 33rd annual Fourth of July Festival, Friday, July 4, at January-Wabash Memorial Park, 501 North Florissant Road, in Ferguson. This year’s theme is “At the Circus.”

Florissant offers free mulch near Koch Park during July

The City of Florissant will continue to offer mulch for residents during the month of July. The mulch area will be open: Weekdays: 8 a.m. – 3p.m.; Saturdays & Sundays: 9 a.m. – 2p.m. Access to the mulch area is off of Charbonier Road west of the Koch Park Archery area. There will be NO disposal of yard waste or branches at the site. Only mulch pick up is authorized.

Job seekers or employers looking to hire just the right employee should attend the First Annual Summer Career Fair on Tuesday, July 15 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the St. Ann Community Center (1 Community Center Drive. Over 50 area employers are expected to attend.
