High school sports practices including football begin Aug. 11

High Schools that are members of the Missouri State High School Activities Association can start practices for the fall sports season on Monday, Aug. 11.

Participating and eligible student-athletes must have their physicals taken before beginning practices. MSHSAA has a pre-preparation sports examination physical form on-line by going to mshsaa.org and clicking on “Preparticipation Sports Examination Physical Form.”

Walt Disney’s Boyhood Missouri Home Town Hosting ‘Toonfest’

Families planning a weekend trip in September might do well to circle Marceline, Missouri on their maps. Marceline is the boyhood home of Walt Disney and will be holding the 10th annual Toonfest on Sept. 20. This year’s event features fun for the whole family, including a parade, games, food, special activities and a host of internationally acclaimed cartoonists.

Challenger Learning Center Gets $60,000 Boeing Grant

More than 100 local teachers will get the chance to take part in activities similar to those performed by NASA astronauts, scientists and engineers thanks to The Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis and The Boeing Company.

Florissant Fine Arts Council Sets Applause/Applause ’08-’09 Season

Florissant Fine Arts Council has announced the Applause/Applause 2008-09 season for shows held at at the Florissant Civic Center Theatre, Parker Road at Waterford Drive.
