Hard Times Doesn’t Curtail Holiday Giving Spirit in Area

Tough economic times has not hampered the holiday spirit of many North County residents. Several churches and schools in North County have gotten into the spirit of giving this holiday season, with toy drives, food drives, and gift collections.

Warrants Charge 2 Ex-Florissant Golf Course Employees With Stealing

Warrants have been issued charging two former Florissant Golf Course employees with stealing $500 or more, a Class C Felony. The warrants were issued Dec. 10 in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County.

3 Hazelwood Businesses Plan Expansions

The Hazelwood City Plan Commission had an active meeting last week taking into consideration three local business’ requests and the improvement of turn-around problems in two streets in the eastern part of the city. The requests will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration at its Jan. 7th meeting.

Pueblo Nuevo Restaurant is located at 7401 N. Lindbergh in the strip mall directly east of City Hall. Andres Morales appeared before the commission requesting a special land use permit for expansion of the restaurant.

Magic House Opens Major Expansion Area on Dec. 20


SEE WHAT IT’S LIKE IN THE OVAL OFFICE, a new exhibit at the Magic House.

With the opening of the new expansion on Saturday, Dec. 20, it’s definitely not just politics as usual with The Magic House’s field trip program. The Magic House is now featuring five all-American field trips on civic education in the expansion’s new Star-Spangled Center that are sure to inspire young students to become proud, informed citizens.

Movie review: The Day the Earth Stood Still

Not much has changed since director Robert Wise released his modest, pristinely shot and intelligently cast 1951 film, The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Dining Divas Go for a Piece of Pi

Pizza is a favorite among many of the Dining Divas. We’ll make excuses to get a few slices any time we can. One reoccurring excuse we use to get together for pizza is to share our travel adventures. This month, the Dining Divas had great adventures to share along with great pieces of Pi, a pizza place in University City on Delmar (or 3.14…for the mathematical wizards out there).
