Florissant Mayor Robert Lowery has announced that he is exploring the idea of creating a special taxing district for the Old Town area.
In a special taxing district, businesses can charge a special sales tax. Money collected from this tax stays in the district and is used for projects within the district.

Large Crowd at Hazelwood’s MLK Program Wowed by Speakers, Singers

Hazelwood’s 7th annual program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King last Sunday drew a large crowd, distinguished speakers, and wowed the audience with musical entertainment.
Mayor T. R. Carr opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and saying “This is the evening to reflect on and to honor the impact of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King. The very fabric of American life was changed by the work of Dr. King.”

Movie review: “Paul Blart: Mall Cop”

” Paul Blart: Mall Cop” is “Die Hard” for “The Biggest Loser” set. It’s John Candy channeling Bruce Willis. It’s Kevin James of television renown (as Doug in “The King of Queens”) as a bobble body in a security guard uniform making consumers safe at New Jersey’s West Orange Pavilion Mall on the eve of the holiday shopping frenzy known as Black Friday.

Inexperienced McCluer North Wrestling Struggles at St. Charles West Tourney

Jake Lapinski had seen success as a wrestler at Hazelwood East High School during the mid 1990s when the Spartans won three straight tournaments (1993-95).
Lapinksi’s dad, Paul, coached Riverview Gardens to four straight state championships during the late 1970s (1976-79).
