Paddock Estates Annexation On Florissant Ballot April 7

The Florissant City Council passed a bill authorizing the city to spend up to $7,500 for an educational campaign concerning annexation of the Paddock Estates area.

The St. Louis County Boundary Commission approved putting the paddock Estates annexation on the April 7th ballot. The council discussed the bill at its executive session before the council meeting last week.

Steelers’ Carey Davis Returns to Alma Mater To Present Championship Rings at Central

Carey Davis, a 1998 graduate of Hazelwood Central High School, and fullback for the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, returned to his high school alma mater recently to take part in a special ceremony for the school’s varsity football team.

Audit Petition Drive Falls 450 Short, Group Plans to Re-submit

The petition drive seeking a state audit of Florissant’s financial operations fell short as about 450 names were struck from the petition for various reasons, according to the St. Louis County Election Board.

Fritz’s Opens 27th Season; Starts New Web Site

Three of the five Fritz’s Frozen Custard locations opened this week, beginning Fritz’s 27th season in business in the St. Louis area. The original store in Florissant, Mo. (1055 St. Catherine St.), and stores in St. Peters, Mo. (506 Jungermann Rd.) and O’Fallon, Mo. (2453 Hwy K) open for the season on Feb. 16.

New After-School Program LEAPs Into Motion at North Middle School


Seventh grader Andy Ford, left, a student at Hazelwood North Middle School, asks a question of speaker, eighth grader John Jones, not pictured, while sixth grader Dimitri Acquarelli listens. The boys are part of a weekly after-school club called LEAP, Leadership Education and Affirmation Program, which teaches the young men how to make good decisions and to show good manners, among other lessons.
