In an effort to better communicate with residents and to attract the attention of more businesses, the city of Hazelwood has launched a newly redesigned website at www.hazelwoodmo.org.
This enhanced web portal has a fresh, more visually appealing look that offers an array of user-friendly features and functions, as well as updated information on what’s happening in Hazelwood.

Hazelwood Parks Staff, Residents Receive Emergency Response Team Training
Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Department staff members and several residents participated in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training recently. The program was conducted by American Red Cross instructors and held at Hazelwood Civic Center East.

Vote For Your Favorite Hazelwood Middle Artist at Jamestown Mall
Artwork by students of the Hazelwood School District Middle Schools will be on display at Jamestown Mall, and mall shoppers can vote for their favorite artist. Voting will start on Friday, April 3 and run through Sunday, April 19, at the bottom of the ramp in JCPenney and Macy’s wing. Once the winning drawing has been determined by the votes, the winning school and classroom will be designated to recreate a larger version of that drawing on the large wall that has been constructed between Victoria’s Secret and Man Alive. The winning middle school will receive $500.

Hazelwood District Project Lead the Way Students Spend Day at Boeing
The Boeing Company welcomed high school students from the Hazelwood School District to spend a day learning about the possibilities of careers in engineering.
During 2009 Engineers Week, Boeing hosted nearly 75 students involved in the Project Lead the Way program from Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools. PLTW promotes pre-engineering courses for middle and high school students at schools across the country. The District implemented PLTW during the 2003-2004 school year.

Hazelwood District Students Qualify for State DECA Contest
Students from Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood West high schools have qualified for DECA state competition in March.
DECA is an international association for students with a mission of enhancing “the co-curricular education of students with interest in marketing, management and entrepreneurship” by helping students develop skills and competence for marketing careers, build self-esteem, experience leadership and practice community service. DECA programs and activities are tailored to the specific career interest of students and include technical skills, basic scholastic and communication skills, human relations and employability skills, and a strong emphasis on economics and free enterprise.

Winter Prep Roundup Hazelwood Central, North County Christian Highlight Cage Season

Hazelwood Central and North County Christian Girls and Boys Basketball teams stood out for the high school winter season in 2008-09 especially when it came to state tournaments.
