Valley of Flowers Adds Extra Night At Knights’ Grounds, New Venders, Bands

Lance Lombardo, chairman of the Valley of Flowers Committee, was asked what he was looking forward to this year, he said “dry weather.” But, he added that he was also looking forward to some new things, including a dog show and demonstration. He added, “we’ll have some different vendor and different foods.”

HW Middle Students Raise $3,000+ for St. Jude’s Hospital
Hazelwood West Middle School students take their coin contests seriously as students challenged each other in penny wars to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is located in Memphis, TN and treats children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. Penny wars work using an opposite point method. Any pennies donated equal a positive total while any other coins translate into negative points.

Hazelwood Honors 4 Employees of the Year

The Hazelwood City Council held an upbeat meeting on April 15, with employee of the year announcements and several positive items in Mayor T. R. Carr’s “what’s new” portion of the meeting.

Central Middle School Student Wins Tee Shirt Design Contest for Hazelwood School District’s Run-Walk
Abriana Gardley, an eighth grader at Hazelwood Central Middle School, won the tee shirt design contest for the 28th Annual Hazelwood PTA Run-Walk.
Her design was selected out of 35 designs submitted by students from across the District. It will appear on tee shirts and registration forms for the event. As the winner, she will receive a trophy and a Run-Walk tee shirt. The trophy will be presented at the May 19 HSD Board of Education meeting.
