Hazelwood North Middle School 8th Grade Orchestra students pose with director John Mazar, left. The students received an Excellent or a “I” (one) rating at the St. Louis Suburban Music Educators Association Middle Grades Orchestra Festival at Hazelwood Central High School. A rating of one is the highest a musical group may receive and is very difficult to obtain.

Two NCCS Students’ Works To Appear in ‘Grannie Annie’
Two North County Christian School (NCCS), 845 Dunn Rd., seventh-grade students have been selected to appear in Grannie Annie, Vol. 4 to be released in May.
Maya Denise Holmes was selected for “The Mystery of the Kindergarten Pants” and Gabrielle Nicole Lloyd for “Down by the Railroad.” Grannie Annie is an anthology of family stories written by young people. The students interview an older relative and write a story about an event from their family’s history.

Hazelwood Students Earn Special School District Award
The Special School District of St. Louis County selected four students from Hazelwood West High School to receive a Rosemary Zander Award.
This year’s winners are Joe Everett, John LeRoy, Kirk Moore and Benjamin Blair. The students, along with other winners from schools served by SSD, will be honored at the Commitment to Kids Banquet in April that will also be attended by district, corporate and community leaders.

NCCS Girls Soccer Seeks 2nd Straight MSCAA Title in Joplin

Joplin, Mo., has been the site for years for the Missouri State Christian Athletic Association championships and have been playing all fall sports in late October, all winter sports in late February and all spring sports in early May.

McCluer North, Lutheran North Boys, McCluer Girls Win in Track and Field

Ecology, Science, Art, Music at Watkins Creek Water Festival
The second annual Living Green in Watkins Creek community water festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 2, on the campus of Hazelwood East High School at 11300 Dunn Road in Spanish Lake.
