Prep Year In Review — 2008-2009 Hazelwood High Schools Take Home 4 State Trophies Including 3 State Titles

Two of the three high schools in the Hazelwood School District enjoyed success during the 2008-09 school year in Missouri State High School Activities Association athletics by taking home a combined total of four state trophies, three of them were state championships.

Mayor Reminds Residents of City’s Trash Container Law

Mayor Robert Lowery wants to remind residents of the City’s trash can ordinance. The Florissant City Hall has received numerous complaints that some residents are in violation of this ordinance.

The ordinance can be found under section 220.070: Containers to be stored behind the front of the building. It states: that no garbage, yard waste, trash or refuse container shall be left in front of a building for more than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours without returning the same to an area behind the front of the building or an area acceptably screened from the street, except on Sundays when no garbage or refuse container shall be left in front of the building between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Eclipse in Moonrise Hotel is Out Of This World , But Not So Much For the Food

It was like we were in a different city. On an unusually beautiful evening this summer, the Dining Divas relaxed atop the new Moonrise Hotel, enjoying a few cocktails and the unique view. Unique in that there are not many places around town that you can get a glimpse of Forest Park, Central West End, the beautiful church steeples, and the vibrancy of The Loop all in one wide gaze. This could be our new favorite place.

Hazelwood and other police departments will be looking for motorists who are DUI

Law enforcement officers across the state of Missouri will be cracking down on drunk driving during the Fourth of July weekend, July 3-5. The Hazelwood Police Department will be joining this effort to help keep local roadways safe for people traveling around town to see parade events and watch firework displays.

Florissant Council OKs Resolutions To Support Local Jobs

The Florissant City Council passed two resolutions that support keeping jobs in the St. Louis area. The first urged the St. Louis Post Dispatch to “reject the predatory practice of job outsourcing and keep St. Louis area jobs in St. Louis.” The second resolution shows the council’s support for efforts being made by U. S. Senators Kit Bond and Claire McCaskill to save Boeing jobs in the St. Louis area.

Hazelwood 2010 Budget Conservative, Yet Optimistic: City Manager Carlstrom

City Manager Ed Carlstrom has submitted the budget for fiscal year 2010 to Mayor Matt Robinson and the city council. In his budget message, Carlstrom writes that in light of today’s economic environment, the budget is conservative, but also optimistic.
