Holiday Happenings

Following is a list of holiday activities in the Metro St. Louis area:

Florissant will sponsor its annual Holiday Craft Show, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27 and 28, 9 to 4 both days at the JFK Community Center at 315 Howdershell.  Admission is free. Patrons can purchase hand-made items from local and surrounding area merchants and crafters, many of which are new this year. For more information call 921-4250.

Food Pantry in Florissant Is Truly a TEAM Effort

The statistics for The Emergency Assistance Ministry (TEAM) can be amazing. Thirty to 4o people are helped each day; over 120 volunteers donate time to help; and 32 churches give time, talent, and money to support the food pantry.

Election Filing Opens for Hazelwood City Council

Residents interested in filing as candidates for election to the Hazelwood City Council may obtain nominating petitions from City Clerk Colleen Klos at Hazelwood City Hall, 415 Elm Grove Lane.  Positions to be filled for full three-year terms at the election on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, are Council members for Wards 1, 3, 5 and 7.

Debate Over Budget Doesn’t Stop Passage

After some contentious discussion, the Florissant City Council passed a budget for fiscal year 2010 at Monday’s meeting.

Councilwoman Karen McKay said she would support the budget, but she first made a motion to remove funds for a second, part-time bailiff.
