It took only 13 seconds for Hazelwood Central to get on the scoreboard last Friday in the Class Six Football semifinals and the Hawks never looked back on their way to a 38-8 home win over Oakville last Saturday.

Central Going for 2nd Straight 6A Title Hawks’ Defense Faces High-Powered Blue Springs in 2009 Show-Me Bowl

Through 13 high school football games 12-1 Hazelwood Central defensively has allowed less than 10 points per game but this Friday, 7:30, in the Class Six Championship game at the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, the Hawks will face an opponent that is relentless.

Soroptimist’s seek applications for Women’s Opportunity Award; Dec. 15 deadline


Women who serve as the head of household for their families and seek financial assistance to attend school can now obtain applications for the Women’s Opportunity Award, presented by Soroptimist International of North St. Louis County.

Florissant will sponsor its annual Holiday Craft Show, Nov. 27 and 28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days at the JFK Community Center at 315 Howdershell.  Admission is free. Patrons can purchase hand-made items from local and surrounding area merchants and crafters, many of which are new this year. For more information call 921-4250.

Christmas Walk & Parade in Old Town Florissant is Dec. 5

Florissant’s Christmas in Old Town with the Christmas Walk, parade and tree lighting will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5. This year’s theme is Old Town Winter Wonderland. The Christmas Walk will be held from 1-5 p.m., the parade at 5:30 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree in front of Florissant City Hall.

Understanding Memory Loss is the core education program of the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Louis Chapter. This program provides a thorough overview of memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease while including information about research, treatments and how to get a diagnosis.
