Last week McCluer North won Boys Basketball at Troy-Buchanan and Wrestling at Ritenour.
McCluer North won their fourth straight Troy-Peoples Bank Boys Basketball Invitational. The Stars defeated Suburban North Conference rival Riverview Gardens, 73-70 on Dec. 7, Troy-Buchanan, 64-39 on Dec. 9, and Columbia-Rock Bridge, 78-67 last Friday. Also the Stars played two non-tournament games and defeated Oakville, 66-53 at McCluer North Dec. 8, and won at Marion, Ill., 50-44 last Saturday.

India Moore’s Art is Featured in Kidney Fund 2010 Calendar

India Moore, second from the left, will have her artwork in the 2010 calendar of the American Kidney Fund.
India Moore, a 15-year-old Florissant resident, will have her artwork featured in the 2010 American Kidney Fund calendar. Her artwork, titled “Transplant Celebration” will be published on the August page. She was chosen as one of 13 winners chosen from a nationwide search. All of the winners are living with kidney disease.

Jim Wieners Wish List-Some Holiday Wishes Already Granted, Others Still Waiting

First of all: Best wishes to all this holiday season, and hopes for the best in 2010.
However some holiday wishes were granted earlier in 2009 and the most recent wish granted was to the Hazelwood Central High School Football team last month in repeating as Class Six State Champions. It was the first back-to-back in Class Six Football by any school, especially in the Hazelwood School District. And it was the first back-to-back for the Suburban North Conference since McCluer won Class 4A in 1968-1969.

Black Jack Council Filing For April Elections Now Available
The City of Black Jack will have an election next April for City Council members from Wards, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Any person desiring to become a candidate can begin filing from, Dec. 15, from 7:30 am to 6 pm, until Jan. 19, during normal business hours at Black Jack City Hall, 12500 Old Jamestown Road.
