The City of Ferguson has hired Tom Jackson as its new Police Chief. Jackson will begin his employment with the City on March 8. He replaces Tom Moonier, who retired.

Grand Reopening of Renovated North County Recreation Complex is Feb. 20

County park rangers were the first to test out the new court last week before the reopening on Feb. 20
The grand reopening of St. Louis County Park’s newly renovated Recreation Complex. is scheduled for Saturday Feb. 20, 1-3 p.m. The event will include tours of the new construction, a ribbon-cutting dedication and a sampling of recreational programming that the complex will offer.

Proposed School at Fatima Delayed at Petitioner’s Request

The Florissant City Council once again postponed a final vote on an ordinance allowing Boonce Academy to open in the old Our Lady of Fatima convent, at 4450 Washington St. The proposed learning center would have up to 61 students from infants through grade 12, with up to 25 staff members.

Birds, Postcards Teach Armstrong Students About Exploring the Country

WHERE IS BALDWIN? Alexander Barfield, Alanah Fahey and Cameron Wright, third grade students at Armstrong Elementary School in the Hazelwood School District, show off post cards they’ve received from the Baldwin Project, (not Baldwin, MO.) a social studies activity designed to teach lessons about different parts of the country. The display board shows where the birds have been in the country, along with copies of various post cards sent to students.

There’s a song somewhere that goes, “that’s the story of, that’s the glory of love.” In director Garry Marshall’s hands, in his new comedy/drama, Valentine’s Day, love’s glory sinks occasionally to sentimental claptrap when it’s spread a bit thin through a multi-generational anthology of romantic tales.
