All State Football Teams Include 5 Players From Hazelwood Central

Five Hazelwood Central football players made the CLASS SIX All-State Football teams as voted upon by statewide media, not including The Independent News nor the writer for this article, and the teams were released on Dec. 11.
The first team all state offense included Hazelwood Central junior running back Kevin Batt and senior offensive lineman Roderick Johnson. Batt carried the ball 263 times for 2,116 yards and 26 touchdowns while Johnson, who helped the Hawks to a 12-1 season and made the Class Six Semifinals, was highly mention among top college recruits.
The second team included junior quarterback Mike Glass, named all-purpose player, and two seniors on defense including linebacker Terrell Collins and defensive back Shamari Hudson. Glass completed 116 out of 235 passes for 2,255 yards and 21 touchdowns Collins had 121 tackles including 100 solo and recovered six fumbles while Hudson intercepted six passes.
Joining Hazelwood Central on the Class Six All-State team from the Suburban North Conference included three seniors from Ritenour — defensive lineman Adewale Adeoye (first team), defensive back Devin Alexander (first team) and receiver/end Chrishawn Torrey (second team) — and Pattonville senior punter Tyler Hach.
CLASS FIVE — Hazelwood East senior Jimmy Jones was named to the first team All State as a defensive back and McCluer North sophomore Harry Ballard was named to the second team as receiver/end.. Jones, who scored 22 touchdowns on offense, had 48 solo tackles, assisted on 17 tackles and intercepted four passes. Ballard caught 41 passes for 595 yards and scored six touchdowns
CLASS THREE — Two offensive players from Quarterfinalist McCluer South-Berkeley, senior All-Purpose player Shaun Conway and junior receiver/end Ryan Stokes, were named to the first team while Trinity Catholic senior receiver/end Corey Patterson was named to the second team. Conway carried the ball 181 times for 1,797 yards and scored 18 touchdowns and 10 two-point conversions while Stokes caught 38 passes for 1,136 yards and 15 touchdowns. Patterson caught 20 passes for 346 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.
CLASS TWO – Two seniors that helped Lutheran North to the state semifinals, receiver end Isaiah Holman and defensive lineman Renell Wren, were named to the first team All State. Holman caught 66 passes for 1,223 yards, also ran 124 times for 1,095 yards, and scored 30 touchdowns. Wren had 55 solo tackles and assisted on 47 other tackles.
