Lutheran Church of the Atonement 2009 Pasta-bilities

The parents and youth at The Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 1285 North New Florissant Road, are preparing for their 5th annual fundraiser, Pasta-bilities. This event will be held at our church on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will include a pasta dinner, silent auction, and a variety show performed by the youth members and friends. Proceeds from this event will go toward our summer mission trips and leadership training events.

11th Annual Ecumenical Holiday Dinner Involves 6 North County Churches

The 11th Annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner is planned Nov. 26, 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 1765 Charbonier Road.

Thanks to the generous support of local businesses and individuals, this meal is being provided to anyone who wants to attend free of charge.

Success of Atonement Harp Choir Prompts Interest in New Choirs

The transition from most instruments to the harp is not an easy one for even the best musicians. Local piano instructor Betty Jane Ruckman is making it easier for students as she is encouraged by the first year of the Harp Choir she started at Atonement Lutheran Church in Florissant.

Large Turnout For 10th Thanksgiving Ecumenical Dinner

Once again the Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner provided a banquet of fun, food and fellowship for the North County community. This year was it was even more special because it was the tenth anniversary of the dinner. It was estimated that approximately 400 meals were served free of charge at this year’s event, which was held in the gymnasium of St. Ferdinand School on Thanksgiving Day.

Area Churches Host What Has Become More Than Just A Thanksgiving Dinner

A very special anniversary takes place this Thanksgiving Day with the tenth anniversary of the annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner. This year’s event will be held at St. Ferdinand Church, 1765 Charbonier Rd. in Florissant from 11:30-3.

Fish Fries Still Plentiful in North County

VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4105 holds fish fries every Friday during Lent. While Joe Varvera (left) and Wally Kunkel fry the cod, Auxiliary President Lois Hubbard (front), Peggy Bonney and Laverne Tompkins serve spaghetti, cole slaw, potato salad and hush puppies. Twenty-four turkeys are on the menu for the eighth annual ecumenical Thanksgiving dinner at St. Ferdinand church. The dinner, held by five churches, fed almost 600 people last year.
