Dave Radel, a 33-year career firefighter with the Hazelwood Fire Department, Dave Radel has worked his way up the management ladder from backstep firefighter to fire inspector to fire captain to deputy chief and to assistant chief for four years. He is a native of Hazelwood, and still lives in this community with his family.

The CityGreen Newsletter, published by FOCUS St. Louis, featured a story on the City of Hazelwood recently in its sixth edition. Hazelwood was recognized for entering into a performance-based contract with Control Technology Solutions (CTS) which has the potential of saving the City nearly $100,000 in energy and operational costs annually.

Hazelwood Police and Explorers put up signs promoting safety helmet use for youth, ages 17 and under.

The City of Hazelwood has launched a community service project involving members of Police Explorers Post #9217 and Fire Explorers Post #9341. The goal is to educate parents and their children, ages 17 and under, about the mandatory requirement for kids to wear a secured safety helmet for all wheeled sports.

Santa’s sleigh with Old St. Nick at the helm is expected to arrive in Hazelwood, on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Hazelwood Community Center, 1186 Teson Road, in White Birch Park. He will be there from 10:30 a.m. to Noon to visit with area children and get their “wish lists” for Christmas.
