Lutheran North Athletics Director Mike Russell Returns To Coaching Football, Starts At Clayton

Lutheran North Athletics Director Mike Russell, who has been coaching baseball and until 12 years ago was coaching football, is returning to the football sidelines as head coach, and he will debut his return Aug. 27, 7 p.m., at Clayton.

Open Houses Aug. 26 at All 3 Hazelwood Highs

Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools and Hazelwood Central Middle School are hosting open house events for students, families and the community on Thursday, Aug. 26.

Open House at Hazelwood East High School is scheduled from 5:30 to 8p.m. and will begin with performances by the drum line and school choir. Jacqueline Kelly, the new principal of Hazelwood East, will give remarks and introduce faculty and staff. Corey Johnson, activities director, will give remarks about athletic eligibility and Parent-Teacher Student Association concession sales during school events. Beginning at 6 p.m., parents can visit teachers by following their student’s classroom schedule.

Ferguson-Florissant School District Voters OK $25 Million Bond Issue

Ferguson-Florissant District residents approved a no tax rate increase $25 million bond issue on the Aug. 3^rd ballot.

Approval of Prop A will allow funding for a variety of projects in the school district aimed at student achievement, building repairs and upgrading student safety.

Hazelwood School Board Puts $120 Million Bond Issue on Nov. 2nd Ballot

The Hazelwood School District Board of Education has approved a resolution calling for a bond election for Nov. 2. The initiative will be called Proposition H and will not be a tax rate increase.

Armstrong School Gets New American Flag from VFW

Quartermaster Jack Brown (left) and Commander Tom Mundell of VFW Post 3944 received a new American flag at Armstrong Elementary School in the Hazelwood School District. Brown’s granddaughter is a third-grader at the school.

Larimore School Celebrates Grand Re-opening Aug. 12

HSD Back-to-School Fair to be held at St. Louis Mills on August 14

The Hazelwood School District and PTA Council will hold the fourth annual Back-to-School Fair for parents and students at St. Louis Mills on August 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The fair will be located between Cabela’s and Children’s Place at entrances 1 and 2.
