English, Sharma Face Off for 68th District Representative
Florissant Councilman Keith English will face off against Rekha Sharma in the race for State Representative for the 68th District. English defeated incumbent Bert Atkins in the Democratic primary. Sharma ran uncontested in the Republican primary.
The Missouri Right to Life Political Action Committee has endorsed both candidates. Sharma has also been endorsed by Term Limits American Political Action Committee. Both have also been endorsed by various members of their own party.
Sharma is the Founder, President, and CEO of Rekha Enterprises – Exotic & Rare Global Artifacts, based in Florissant. She has also worked as a financial advisor. She has a BA in Political Science from Washington University and has lived in North County for ten years.
Sharma says that she understands that this campaign is all about the people of the 68th District: helping them and being their voice in Jefferson City. Helping people through public service is her passion and she loves doing it, she says.
English is an electrician who has served on the Florissant City Council for over six years. He has also served as Council President. English has been active in several groups in the area, including Knights of Columbus, Old Town Partners, Florissant Rotary, North County Elks, and North County Incorporated.
“As Council President, I have strived for a more transparent local government by involving the community I serve. I began public work sessions with the Council for the betterment of our community. As Councilman of the 4th Ward, I developed programs that assist residents such as free recycling and a fall leaf pick-up. I am present and visible in the community, and the residents know I am always ready to work for them as well as side by side with them.”
In other local races, incumbent Democrat Margo McNeil faces Republican Glan Lindemann for State Representative for the 69th District.
Democrat Gina Walsh and Republican Jacquelyn Thomas are vying for the State Senate seat from the 5th district.
