Hazelwood’s July 4 Fireworks Show Includes Entertainment by Plastic
The city of Hazelwood is planning a pyro-musical fireworks display on Thursday, July 4, at White Birch Park, 1186 Teson Road, starting at dusk. A free summer outdoor concert featuring Plastic will begin at 7 p.m.
Hazelwood officials have established a contract with J & M Displays, Inc., to put on a fireworks show using at least 1,700 shells and lasting approximately 20 minutes.
“We’re using the same company that did our fantastic pyro-musical fireworks display last year, but it’s now operating under a new name,” said Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division superintendent Doug Littlefield. “The fireworks show they did for us on September 22, after delaying it because of drought conditions was the best I’ve ever seen here in Hazelwood. Our residents really have something to look forward to on July 4th.”
The concert by Plastic will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 9. Plastic specializes in recreating a live ‘80’s sound while incorporating top hits from the 90’s and today into the mix. The band’s repetoire includes songs made famous by Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls, The Cars, Billy Idol, David Bowie, Rick Springfield, and Kajagoogoo.
Guests are welcome to bring coolers, picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs. Glass containers are not allowed, and no vendors will be in the park.
Off-site parking will be available at the Knights of Columbus. Parking is also available at Howdershell Park and Hazelwood Baptist Church, where shuttle buses will start heading to White Birch Park at 6:15 p.m. The buses will be making pick-ups every 15 minutes.
