July 4th Activities in North County, Alton, Grafton
Florissant, Ferguson, Hazelwood and Alton and Grafton in Illinois have scheduled the following activities for Independence Day.
FERGUSON
The City of Ferguson and its Fourth of July Committee is hosting a holiday festival, Celebrate Families, on Saturday, July 4 at January-Wabash Memorial Park.
A parade starts the day at 10 a.m. at Suburban Avenue. The parade will travel north on Florissant Road to January-Wabash Memorial Park. Prizes will be awarded to the best parade entries.
The park will be open from 11a.m. to following the fireworks at 9:15 p.m. At noon there will be a presentation of awards to Ferguson’s Citizens of the Year and Youth Achievement Award.
The festival will include food, beverage and game booths, live music scheduled throughout the day and children’s activities.

Note: No dogs, pets, bicycles or skateboards are allowed on park grounds. No barbecues or tents or tables permitted on the west side of the lake. No moving picnic tables.
FLORISSANT
Florissant’s tradition of celebrating Independence Day continues this year on the grounds of the James J. Eagan Civic Center at Florissant Valley Park Festivities begin with an outdoor concert performance by the Bob Kuban Brass Band at 7:30pm.
Following the concert (approximately 9:30 p.m), Florissant’s renowned fireworks presentation combining brilliant shells, color sequencing, dimensional frontage, and low and high level aerial combinations. Bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the free entertainment.
In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks display ONLY will be held the following evening (July 5 at 9:30 p.m.). For additional information, call the James J. Eagan Center at 314-921-4466.
HAZELWOOD
Hazelwood’s fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 4 in White Birch Park. Off-site parking is available at Howdershell Park, Armstrong Elementary School and Hazelwood West High School, with shuttle bus service beginning at 7 p.m. Parking is available at the Knights of Columbus Fatima Council on Teson Road, however, patrons are required to walk into the park from this lot.
In the event of bad weather, the fireworks will be held on July 5.
ALTON
Alton – Fireworks on the Mississippi, Alton’s fireworks display will be held at Riverfront Park on Friday, July 3, at 9 p.m. With the Clark Bridge as a backdrop over the Mississippi River, this fireworks show is always a crowd pleaser. The display begins at dark.
Food vendors and live music will take place at Riverfront Park. For more information, call (618) 465-6676.
GRAFTON
Grafton – Fireworks Over the Confluenceon Main Street in Grafton, is Saturday, July 4 at dark. Come out early for entertainment and food specials at local restaurants. As the sun goes down, fireworks will light up the night sky. For more information, call (618) 786-7000.
