Meetings for Hazelwood 1st Feb. 22. March 8, 29, April 26

Hazelwood 1st, an initiative of the Hazelwood School District to decide the future of facilities in the District, continues in February with meetings held Feb. 1 and another scheduled Feb. 22.

The district began Phase III of Hazelwood 1st in early January and nearly 200 parents, residents, community members and staff showed their support by attending the meeting to begin discussions. There are more facility needs in the District and the community is being asked to help to review and prioritize those needs.

Some possible projects include: upgrading science labs at Hazelwood Central High School, renovating the libraries at Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools, new ceilings and lighting in the commons at Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools, and District-wide HVAC equipment replacement or upgrades. There are other potential improvement projects across the District, too.

The meeting dates for Phase III of Hazelwood 1st are Feb. 1 and 22, March 8 and 29 and April 26. Recommendations from the meetings will be made to the HSD Board in May.

All meetings are held at Hazelwood Central High School in the Commons from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The school is located at 15875 New Halls Ferry Road in Florissant. Childcare is provided for ages 3-12. Parents must register for childcare by calling (314) 953-5045.
