New Siteman Cancer Center To Open in 2019 in Florissant

Will Serve North County and Illinois

Siteman Cancer Center plans to open a $20 million satellite facility in 2019 on vacant land at the site of Christian Hospital’s Northwest HealthCare facility at 1225 Graham Road in Florissant. Since July 1 Siteman has operated its fifth and newest satellite location at Christian Hospital’s main campus at 11133 Dunn Road in North St. Louis County.

The new facility will cover 38,000 square feet. Pending necessary approvals, Siteman plans to break ground on the new location in early 2018, with completion scheduled for 2019. Until then, Siteman patients will continue to be treated at the satellite office at Christian Hospital.

Siteman’s primary facility is located on the campus of Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Christian Hospital is part of the BJC Healthcare system. Siteman also has satellite locations at Barnes-Jewish West County, at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and in south St. Louis County.

“This is huge for Siteman to come to North County,” said Rick Stevens, president of Christian Hospital. “It’s a much needed service for this community. There are a lot of people who come here out of Illinois for care as well, so now they don’t have to drive to the West End for cancer care.”

Stevens is overseeing more than $40 million in projects at Christian’s two campuses, including the one in Florissant. BJC Healthcare and Washington University’s School of Medicine plan to invest $20 million in the new Siteman Cancer Center on the Northwest HealthCare campus.

“The new Siteman facility at Christian Hospital’s Northwest HealthCare location will be a tremendous addition to the first-rate services and businesses serving Florissant and its North County neighbors,” says Florissant Mayor Thomas P. Schneider. “An investment of $20 million shows how important BJC HealthCare and Washington University’s School of Medicine consider Florissant and North County.”

Dr. Timothy Rearden, a medical oncologist who has practiced at Christian Hospital for 22 years, will serve as medical director at the new Siteman center. Dr. Mackenzie Daly, a Washington University radiation oncologist, is currently director of radiation oncology at Siteman at Christian Hospital.

Most staff members who treat patients at Christian’s Siteman satellite office became employees of Washington University on July 1. Additional staff is expected to be hired for the new Siteman location “over time,” according to a statement from the Washington University School of Medicine.
