Northwest Healthcare President Talks About Expansion

By Carol Arnett

The Northwest Healthcare Emergency Department is set to expand soon. Representatives from Northwest Healthcare spoke to the Florissant City Council at last week’s meeting to discuss their plans.

The new addition will be adjacent to the current entrance. It will provide 13 more exam rooms, for a total of 25. It will add 6,800 square feet and be one story.

Ron McMullen, President of Northwest Healthcare, said that the current facility was built to handle 30,000 visits per year, and is currently getting about 40,000 visits per year.

“With the new addition, we’ll be able to handle 55,000 per year,” McMullen said. He noted that the center estimates they will see 55,000 visits per year in the next 10 years. “This allows us another ten years of growth,” McMullen said.

McMullen also said that the center would not have a helicopter pad, but would continue to use the grass landing area. “We average two helicopter landings a year, so that works fine,” he said.
