Town Hall Meeting to Address UE’s Proposed Rate Increase

Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr. will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m., at the James J. Eagan Civic Center.  Lowery noted that this meeting, is open to citizens of all ages.  Heavy hors d’oeuvres, with drinks and desert will be available at the beginning of the meeting.

“My office has been receiving a large number of calls regarding changes proposed by AmerenUE and their request to the Public Service Commission to grant them an 18 percent rate increase,” said Lowery.

“My administration has sent a letter to the Commission in opposition to this rate increase as I feel it is extremely exorbitant.”

AmerenUE representatives will be attending the meeting to answer questions.  Also invited to speak is Neal Gilb, Government Relations Manager, with Charter Communications to discuss charges for a new cable box in order to receive government cable access.

Other topics of interest that will be addressed at the meeting are reports on crime statistics, infrastructure updates, and the new single trash hauler program.  Additional speakers include representatives from Meridian Waste, Congressman Clay’s Office, Senator McCaskill’s Office, Christopher (Kit) Bond’s Office, and the United States Census Bureau.

The Mayor hopes to include a discussion on what is new in the City of Florissant along with additional safety and senior programs.
